Psunami v2.0 for Electric Image Universe Animator is Now Shipping! Los Angeles - May 2, 2001- Northern Lights Productions and Areté Entertainment are proud to announce the release of Areté Entertainment's award winning Psunami v2.0 for Electric Image's Universe Animator. Psunami™ is a hybrid plugin/shader for the Electric Image's Universe Animator™. With this system you can create photo-realistic oceans and skies. Psunami v2.0 and Universe Animator's powerful ray-traced rendering gives you incredibly believable imagery never before possible in Electric Image. "This tool truly bridges the gap between computer-generated imagery and reality. It's fun to watch people do a double-take when they see a Psunami™ animation. They can't quite tell that it's not real and that's the goal," said Blair Burtan, founder of Northern Lights Productions. "Northern Lights Productions has done a great job of taking the same technology used to create digital ocean scenes for Titanic, Castaway, and Waterworld and has created a powerful plug-in for Electric Image that is capable of generating photo-real digital oceans suitable for film, broadcast, and game applications," said Angus Taggart, Director of Product Development at Areté Entertainment, Inc. Psunami v2.0 package includes: Psunami: Create major elements of ocean surfaces, generate general ocean surface geometry as well as swells, ripples and boat wakes (curved and linear), apply bobbing motion to effectors. Ocean Optics: Works in conjunction with Psunami and contains algorithms for rendering ocean surfaces, creates water coloration and glitter from light sources, creates reflections and refractions of other objects in the scene, renders the ocean surface when viewed underwater. Air Optics: A Universe shader that creates the appearance of a traditional blue sky, including sunsets, rainbows, and haze. About Northern Lights Productions.
