Windows Licensing Diagnostics

Please follow the steps
below to generate the information needed to diagnose your licensing
problem. Once you have finished generating this information, please e-mail
as attachments to
techsupport@areteis.com and include:
- Company Name
- Platform: SGI, WinNT, Win2000,
WinXP, or
Linux
- 3D Program & Version: Maya or
Softimage|3D
- AEI Software Product & Version:
Psunami, Psyclone, P_Liquid, Pyro, RenderWorld, Digital GameWare
API
- Issue Type: Installation or
Licensing
- Description of Problem.
- Select Start -> Settings -> Control Panel ->
Services
- Select the Arete License Server and click on Stop
- Exit the Services window (keep control panel
open)
- Open WindowsNT Explorer
- Navigate to
c:\arete\license
- Double-click on uninstall_lmgrd.bat
- Reopen the Services panel and verify that the
Arete License Server has been removed
- Close the Services panel
- Double click on install_lmgrd.exe
- Reopen the Services panel. You should again see
the Arete License Server
- Select the Arete License Server and click on
Start
- At this point I want you to double-click on
c:\arete\license\lmtools.exe
- I want you to then select "Configuration Using
License File" then browse to and select the c:\arete\license\arete.lic
file
- Click on the System Settings tab
- Copy and paste the hostname information into a
Notepad window. Save this file as hostname.txt
- Copy and paste the ethernet ID information into a
Notepad window. Save this file as ether.txt
- Copy and paste the FLEXID7 or FLEXID8 information
into a Notepad window. Save this file as flexid.txt
- Click on the Utilities Tab
- Click on the Perform Checksum button
- Copy and paste the Checksum output into a Notepad
window. Save this file as checksum.txt
- Click on the Server Status tab
- Select Display Everything then click on Perform
Status Enquiry
- Copy and paste the Status output into a Notepad
window. Save this file as status.txt
- Click on the Server Diagnostics tab
- Click on the Peform Diagnostics button
- Copy and page the diagnostics output into a
Notepad window. Save this file as diag.txt
- You can now close lmtools.exe.
- You can also close the Services window as well as
the Control Panel
- I want you to now open a MS-Dos prompt (Start ->
Programs -> Command Prompt)
- Navigate to the arete|license directory (i.e. cd
c:\arete\license
- List the directory contents by typing: dir
- Get a screen shot of the command prompt with the
arete\license directory contents. Paste the screen shot into any imaging
editor and save the file as command.jpg
- Next, type "set > c:\arete\license\settings.log".
This will dump all of your environment variable settings into a log file
in c:\arete\license.
Now that you have gotten all this
information together, you will need to e-mail ALL of the following files.
Please note ALL of this information is needed in order to run the complete
and proper diagnostics on your problem.
